Molecular Diagnostic Panels and Antibiotic Resistance Tests

Genomic breeding shapes the herd's future; molecular diagnostics protects the herd's present. Vethia offers both fields on the same platform: PCR-based rapid detection of infectious agents and molecular-level determination of antibiotic resistance.

Species Lines

  • Line
    Ruminant
    Scope
PCR panels for infectious agents affecting respiratory, digestive, reproductive, and udder health in cattle, sheep, and goats.
  • Line
    Equine
    Scope
Panels for respiratory and reproductive system infections and carrier screening in horses.

    Pet
    Scope
Infectious disease panels for cats and dogs.
  • Line
    Poultry
    Scope
Panels for flock health monitoring in commercial poultry operations.

Antibiotic Resistance Tests

Molecular detection of resistance genes enables evidence-based decision-making in treatment selection and reduces unnecessary antibiotic use. Results are presented as a structured report containing the resistance profile and a clinical note.

Working Method

  • Panel contents, sample types, and sample acceptance criteria are defined in our current test catalog; they are shared on request.
  • The sample collection kit and transport protocol are provided by us; every sample is tracked through the barcoded sample chain.
  • The result report contains the agents detected, the limit of detection, the internal control status, and an interpretive note. A reaction that fails the internal control is not reported as "negative"; it is flagged as "invalid" and repeated.
  • For herd-level monitoring programs, a periodic sampling plan and trend report are provided.

Where Diagnostics and Breeding Meet

When both diagnostic and genomic data are produced at the same operation, herd health and genetic decisions come together on a single platform.

Example: in a herd with a chronic udder health problem, the diagnostic panels show the causative agent, while the genomic data reveals which animal lines are genetically disadvantaged in terms of somatic cell score. Together, the two pieces of information align treatment and selection in the same direction.

Frequently Asked Questions

PCR detects the genetic material of the agent directly; it gives a faster result than culture and also catches agents that are difficult to culture. The report is presented together with the limit of detection and the internal control status.

Contact and Getting Started

The process begins with a non-binding needs consultation. In this meeting, we discuss your herd's current status, your goals, and your budget framework; together we determine the package that suits you.
